2025 REDCON Call for Proposals

2025 REDCON Theme: Proactive Responses to Disruptions

Time & Location: September 22-24, 2025 in Alexandria, VA (Hilton Alexandria Old Town)

Undergraduate STEM education is undergoing a rapid transformation, driven by several key factors, including the increasing influence of artificial intelligence (AI), the looming enrollment cliff, generational shifts in how students engage with learning, the increased need to better support neurodivergent students and those with mental health challenges, as well as changes in funding priorities. As change agents in STEM, we need to remain resilient to setbacks that might impact our change efforts, and be able to pivot quickly in order to maintain the change momentum. The 2025 RED Consortium Meeting will focus on the theme of proactive responses to disruptions in order to highlight ways in which RED teams have proactively managed interruptions that have impacted their change efforts.

RED team members are invited to submit session proposals for interactive panels and workshops to be delivered to their peers at the 2025 Meeting in Alexandria, VA. Sessions will last approximately 60 minutes. Each team may submit only one solo proposal, but the number of cross-team proposals is unrestricted. There are no restrictions on how many proposals an individual may participate in.

Topics include but are not limited to:

  1. Maintaining values alignment during times of great transformations
  2. Creative strategies for leveraging resources
  3. Communicating through disruptions
  4. Adaptive teaching strategies that are responsive to changing student needs
  5. Strategies for leveraging communities and strategic partnerships during times of great transformations
  6. Pivoting and reassessing skill sets of change makers
  7. Other related topics

Session leaders, including panel organizers, should submit (a) an abstract of 300 words or less on their session topic, (b) learning objectives for the session attendees, and (c) a plan for attendee engagement and participation. The most effective and well-received sessions will be interactive, with actionable takeaways for participants.
